    Delivery follows the task

What should your model be able to do?

    Recreate & further develop

An obsolete or damaged part can serve as the basis for a new CAD model. We work with the features and dimensions that are important for your solution.

    Adapt to the existing one

Design brackets, adapters, and built-ins using the surrounding shapes as a reference - from instrument panels to machines.

    Compare & document

Use the scan as geometric documentation or compare it with CAD. The scope and requirements of the inspection are agreed upon in advance.

    SELECTED PROJECTS

    Real topics. Concrete solutions.

From small components and organic shapes to cars, trains, and industrial facilities. A selection of our work in scanning and reverse engineering.

Do you have a similar task?

Industrial facility as a digital model

An existing kebab system was scanned and modeled in 3D. The machine, conveyor belt, and platforms were assembled as digital models, providing an overview of the geometry and layout.

Toolbox cassette from physical part to CAD

An existing metal cassette was scanned and reconstructed in CAD. Here, the original is shown alongside a physical reproduction of the geometry. The project demonstrates the path from a small technical component to a digital foundation.

    Radio frame for Opel Vivaro

The dashboard in an Opel Vivaro was scanned as the basis for a customized radio fascia. From the vehicle's existing geometry to CAD and a physical part that fits into the cabin.

Here you can see the finished radio fascia installed in the vehicle.

Historic Danish lamp design preserved digitally

Historic Danish-designed lamps from Frederiksberg Hotel in Copenhagen were scanned and reconstructed in CAD. The aim was to preserve their forms digitally and create a basis for possible remanufacturing.

The project covers two lamps with curved shades and distinctive details. Both lamps are shown here: original color scans on the left and reconstructed CAD models on the right.

The comparison was rendered directly from the project's 3D files. The scans show the recorded RGB colors and patina; the CAD models are displayed with a neutral material color.

    HOW WE WORK

From the first image to usable files

    Let's look at your assignment

    1. Clarification & scanning

Send pictures, approximate measurements, and tell us what the part will be used for. We will agree on the method, delivery, and price, and scan at our facility or on-site by arrangement.

    2. Cleaning & reconstruction

The scans are combined, the background and noise are removed, and the surface is processed. If the model needs to be editable in CAD, we reconstruct it as a separate part of the project.

    3. Follow-up & next steps

We check the result against the agreed assignment and deliver the relevant files. We can also help with adaptation, prototyping, and manufacturing.

Good to know before we scan

    What will I have delivered?

We agree on the files according to your needs: for example, a PLY point cloud, an STL/OBJ mesh, or a reconstructed CAD model such as STEP. A scan is not automatically an editable CAD model.

    How much does it cost?

The base price is 600 kr. incl. VAT for scanning and post-processing of data. Size, access, complexity, and the desired deliverables determine the total price. CAD reconstruction, on-site scanning, and fabrication are agreed separately.

    Can I scan here?

Yes, we offer scanning both at our location and at your address by appointment. Send photos and approximate dimensions so we can assess the practical solution.

How accurate will the result be?

It depends on the size, surface, accessibility, and chosen method of the item. Tell us which dimensions and mating surfaces are critical so we can agree on the relevant tolerances and inspection.

Can shiny, dark, or damaged parts be scanned?

Many can, but the surface may require preparation, such as matting. We clarify the treatment beforehand. Missing or damaged geometry may require reconstruction in CAD.

Can you also manufacture the part?

Yes, we can help further with customization, prototyping, and manufacturing. We assess the material, function, and fit together with you.

How long does the task take?

The scan itself is only part of the work. Post-processing, CAD reconstruction, and inspection affect the delivery time. We will provide an estimate once we have seen the part and agreed on the deliverables.

What you can expect from us

    A solution to your assignment

We start with what the part needs to do. The shape, fit, material, and manufacturing method are selected based on the application.

    Clear agreement on the process

We clarify the scope, price, and delivery before the work starts. You know what you’ll get - from scanning and CAD files to a prototype or finished part.

    Direct dialogue along the way

You're talking with the person working on your assignment. We'll go over questions and adjustments together and agree on the next steps.

More about 3D scanning and digital models

    What is 3D scanning?

3D scanning records the surface of a physical object as digital measurement points. The points can be assembled into a mesh model that describes the shape using many small surfaces. The model can be used for documentation, comparison, or as a reference for CAD and new parts.

What is the difference between a scan and reverse engineering?

A scan describes the measured surface, including wear and irregularities. In reverse engineering, we build a CAD model with intentional surfaces, holes, and dimensions. This makes it possible to adapt the geometry rather than simply copying the measured surface.

Which objects can be 3D scanned?

These examples range from cutlery and small clamps to lamps, car parts, and machines. Size is not the only deciding factor: access, surface, details, and the model's purpose determine how the task is approached. Send photos and approximate measurements for a specific assessment.

Can you 3D scan lamps and furniture?

Yes, scanning can capture curved and organic forms that are difficult to describe with individual measurements. The lamp casing on this page shows both scanned surfaces and reconstructed CAD models. Hidden surfaces and joints require separate access or supplementary measurements.

Can you scan cars and other vehicles?

Scanning can be used for both individual vehicle components and the surrounding areas that a new component needs to fit into. A radio frame, an air duct, and an area in a cab are different tasks. We therefore determine which areas and mating surfaces need to be recorded.

Can a 3D model contain colors and textures?

Yes, a scan can contain color information when the equipment, surface, and capture process support it. Color and geometric accuracy are different properties. Tell us whether the model will be used for visualization or technical design so the deliverable is suitable for its purpose.

What is the difference between STL, OBJ, PLY, and STEP?

STL describes a triangle mesh without colors. OBJ is used for meshes and can be combined with texture files. PLY can contain points or meshes and possibly colors. STEP is used for CAD geometry. Converting a filename to STEP is not in itself the same as reconstructing a usable CAD model.

Can a scan be used directly for 3D printing?

Some models can be printed after cleanup and closing holes. Others require reconstruction, adjustment of wall thicknesses, or changes to the geometry. A printable model is not automatically a functional replacement part either; material, load, and fit must be assessed.

How is scanning used for CAD verification?

The scan and CAD model are placed in a common coordinate system, after which their surfaces can be compared. A color map can show deviations, as in the coat hanger example. The result depends on both the measurement data and the selected alignment; relevant references and tolerances are agreed upon before the inspection.

Can my phone be used for 3D scanning?

A phone can be useful for visual models and early experiments, depending on the method and subject. For parts that need to fit together mechanically, scale, details, and measurement uncertainty must be assessed. You are welcome to send an existing model so we can assess whether it is a suitable starting point.

What is the difference between scanning and photogrammetry?

Photogrammetry calculates shape from overlapping photographs. Optical 3D scanners may use structured light or lasers, for example. The method's suitability depends on the subject, setup, and requirements; no method is best for every task.

Can 3D scanning damage the object?

The optical measurement itself is contactless, but handling, markers, and any matting spray may affect sensitive surfaces. We therefore clarify the preparation with you. Please let us know in advance if the object is fragile, valuable, or must not have anything applied to it.

Can people, animals, or buildings be 3D-scanned?

These types of scanning exist, but they require different considerations than individual technical components. Movement makes live subjects difficult, while buildings require a method for greater distances and coordinates. Contact us about the specific task; the examples on this page primarily document scanning of physical parts and equipment.
